Why Does Stress Get a Bad Rap?

wow.

that’s a lot of energy right there

What if we could use that stress for something good?

Let’s reframe stress!

Stress is a big part of our lives. A lot of time It seems like speaking, reading or saying the word stress is going to mean something bad.

For example:

“This is stressing me out”

“I just can’t take all of this stress”

“That sounds stressful.”

In this context, stress seems like this end of the road, pot boiling over, I need to run away and hide - type of word.

BUT WHAT WE COULD REFRAME SOME OF THIS STRESS AS GOOD?

What’s so good?

Being under stress allows us to:

Perform

Create

Overcome

Achieve

Outlast

Set a Record

Prove Ourselves

Win

Create Change

Stress CAN bring out the best in us, so isn’t that a good thing?

When your heart is pounding a little bit more feelings of excitement, achievement, euphoria may come up.  When you get to the top of a running a hill climb and look out at the beautiful view a feeling of elation comes on (dopamine released in your body).

What caused that?  Stress! :)

Let’s talk mindfulness. What if next time stress comes up in your body you took a brief mindful timeout and got curious? How can this stress be used for good?  How can this stress teach me something about myself?  Is this stress too much, too little, or just right?

Emotions are information. Stress can feel good or feel bad.  How can you consume and get involved with more “good feeling stress” in your life??
